I have wanted to have a booth at Junk Market for a long time. I froze my buns off waiting in the early bird line at the Fairgrounds a few years ago and loved it. (And if you know me, you know I hate being cold!)
But I didn’t buy anything. Because I knew I could make most of it.
Fast forward to this year, when my friend Katie, who already had her darling Beda J booth registered, asked if I wanted to help. Pressure off! Sounds Fun! However, I didn’t realize how much Junk Market had grown.
I didn’t know to expect this:
Cue the anxiety!
I went from many, many nights in the shop that looked like this…
…to load in day in what felt like 10 seconds. I will now never watch a hockey game again without thinking about the time I drove my car onto the floor at Scheels Arena.
After all the work and the craziness of the two days of shoppers, would I do it again? For sure.. but I’m also not about to joke. It was a LOT of work. Here are the afters that show our booth before shoppers arrived. (We were right next to Dakota Timber Company, and I spent all of my profits by the end of day 1 on their Wells reclaimed wood paneling. They came in with a flat bed trailer and fork-lifted beautiful wood all around us. JUST LET ME LIVE!)
It was a blast, but we needed to recoup from the crazy weekend. So… we flew to Waco,TX, and hung out at Magnolia Market at the Silos for a few days less than two weeks later. More about that trip coming soon!
